■ Territory Issues || Sapphire and Silver

Silver was wholly focused on the Pinsir in front of him, barely able to afford any attention to the Pinsir Sapphire was dealing with. The creature was wobbling on its feet, screeching in rage as it tried to take aim at the Golbat in front of it. It lunged, attempting to grab Golbat so it could put it in Submission. It moved so slowly in its confusion that Golbat was easily able to avoid the attack and the Pinsir nearly fell over on itself.

“Golbat, use Fly!” Silver yelled. Golbat took off high into the air and before the Pinsir could right itself for another attack, Golbat collided with  the Bug Pokemon, knocking it to the ground with a crash.

Silver was about to issue an order for a final attack when the loud, piercing screech of the other Pinsir caught his attention. He turned around and blanched when he saw the other Pinsir charging straight for Golbat.

“Golbat, get out of the way!” Silver cried. But Golbat, still focused on the Pinsir on the ground, didn’t notice the other Pinsir about to attack.

“Golbat!” Silver yelled just as the Pinsir enveloped Golbat in its pincers, squeezing almost hard enough to snap the Pokemon in half. Golbat screeched in pain for several long moments until it passed out and Pinsir tossed its unconscious body to the ground.

“Shit!” Silver hissed. The Pinsir which Golbat had been fighting was now back on its feet and no longer confused. Silver backed himself against a tree, waiting for the Pokemon to turn their attention to him.

Sapphire cursed under her breath, watching the other trainer’s Golbat fall. However, she noticed the Pinsir she fought now was in a defensive stance aside the other, as if it was protecting its friend. Looking closely, she realized one was slightly bigger than the other. Then it finally hit her.

“Oh. OH. He’s protectin’ her!” Sapphire blurted out loud, “They’re mates!”

Although it was admirable, unfortunately, that realization came a bit too late for them, as the two Pinsirs began to corner the redhead. Sapphire grimaced at the situation. She had her Donphan still out but the other trainer’s Golbat was down for the count. Soon, another Pokemon would have to be sent out. However, the forested area seemed too small and disadvantageous for her to send out her Aggron or her water types. Her Pilo also wouldn’t be able to fly within in the forest either, making him vulnerable to effective Bug moves.

And Toro…

Sapphire remembered Fighting moves were ineffective against Bug. Even though her Blaziken could make short work of them with fire moves; there was the risk of starting a wildfire. It was the reason why Sapphire didn’t send out Toro first. She cared about the wild Pokemon living here.

All that was left to hope was on the other trainer’s party.

“Dono! Charge at ‘im!” Sapphire commanded again, and Donphan charged in to tackle the first Pinsir. The Bug Pokemon pinched its claws once more for another Guillotine, but the ground Pokemon took on the OHKO attack fully. His outstanding resistance surprised the attacking Pinsir, who did not realize Donphan’s Sturdy ability. Quickly, Sapphire turned away from the power struggle, confident Donphan would handle Pinsir on his own for a few minutes.

Pinsir’s mate still had its attention at the redhead and lunged to attack him. Quickly, Sapphire dashed and leaped to shove him out of the way, the two trainers barely tumbling away from harm.

Meo? tchh what was he? some sort of drink full of vitamin C? thats what it sounded like, but it didn’t matter, causeee he wouldn’t even be her pokemon for long. mwahahaha. Meowth made weird faces as he thought to himself.

“mrowww~” that was his approval meow.

“Then it’s settled! I’m callin’ ya Meo!” she lifted Meowth up from her lap to give him a quick tight hug. “Hey hey, do you wanna meet my Pokemon, Meo?”

Hmm, the petting felt kinda good. SO this is what it felt like whenever Boss pet that spoiled persian all the time. Ahhh it was really relaxing~

BUT, Meowth made sure he didn’t get too attached! otherwise his plan wouldn’t work, so he kept remembering in his mind ALL the trainers were just dweebs. HAH, him? be her friend? fat chance. “prrrr~” he started purring while she pet him. nickname? it was probably gonna sound retardidly cute like fluffy or choochoo or milkshakes.

“Hmm… uh-usually I’d nickname my Pokemon by the first part,” Sapphire thought out loudly to herself. She was still stroking his fur. “Well, ‘cept Pilo, it sounds cooler.”

“How about Meo, Meowth?”

Meowth was too busy GASPING to get the air back into his lungs while she introduced herself, a gist of what he heard was ‘blah blah Saphhire and something something Hoenn? He just nodded his head with dizzy eyes to let her know he gets the picture.

“meoww” Well that explains it, meowths are rare from where she comes from. figures. He just nuzzled against her again, closing his eyes for a nap. SO what if he had evil intentions that didn’t mean he couldn’t be comfortable.

“Aww, y’u sleepy?” Sapphire cooed and sat down, letting Meowth nap on her lap. Stroking his fur gently, she smiled softly to him.

“I might act all tough n’ stuff but I still like cute Pokemon. I hope y’u can be my friend!” 

Hm… now what could be a good nickname for Meowth?

C-C-C-C..CANT B-B-B..BBBREATHE…. Meowth couldn’t take it, why did some trainers think he was so damn adorable? It felt like the little life inside of him was gonna give out anytime. why was she so strong anyways?

“mewwwWWww~” Good. he managed to let out a little meow, even though it sounded like a dying kitten. He was hating every minute of this, if he wanted Meowth could just whip out his claws and fury swipe her right there, then steal her pokemon. but nope! that would cause too much panic, he had to be patient. it was going to be perfect.

He nuzzled against Sapphire’s face like a good widdle kitty~ (NOT)

Sapphire finally realized she was choking hugging Meowth to death and gasped. She let go of the poor thing and apologized.

“Ahh! Sorry, lil’ guy! I keep fer-gettin’ my own strength!” She gave herself a gentle punch to her head, giggling at her own forgetfulness.

“My name’s Sapphire, Meowth! I’m fr’m Hoenn!” Sapphire introduced herself to the Pokemon, “I got a bit too excited cuz there ain’t any Meowths there!”

“m-mew mew” He could almost puke, join her team?! AHAHA…neverrrr—he had other plans. sneaky sneaky plans and hopefully it would work. Meowth rubbed up against her with a fake smile on his fluff face, nodding his head then grooming himself. Fluffing up his cat ears, then curling up into her arms.”

Sapphire, being the naive thirteen year old she was (lacking any intuition OR much common sense), assumed Meowth was a goodhearted Pokemon with no evil intentions whatsoever!

Her face was even brighter, with a big, happy smile at Meowth’s agreeableness. 

“So ya do wanna join! Yayyyyy!” Forgetting her own strength, Sapphire would do one common thing many girls did when they were holding such an adorable creature.

She gave Meowth a tight, crushing death hug.

Cute? who the hell did she thin— nope nope. sometimes little meowth forgets he is indeed a cute, soft and squishy pokemon. Besides, maybe this can work to his advantage. His eyes lit up like stars. YES. Meowth put on the adorable cat routine. “mew mew~” Licking his paws then grooming his ears with big goo goo eyes for dramatic effect

“D’awwww! Y’ur precious!” Sapphire squealed, but quickly covered her mouth and looked around to see if anyone was watching her. When no one was, she giggled to herself and gingerly picked up Meowth.

“Say, y’u wanna join my team?!” she asked the feline Pokemon cheerfully.

■ Territory Issues || Sapphire and Silver

Silver grit his teeth, feeling more and more stupid by the second. What was he doing just sitting up in a tree while some weird girl fought his battle for him? Watching the girl and her Pokemon take on the Pinsir made him feel like a coward and a failure. 

At least it looked like the girl could manage the Pinsir on her own, despite how little room her Donphan had to maneuver in. Silver began to wonder how he could possibly save face when he had mocked her to her face and then hid in a tree while she fought a wild Pinsir. He was considering just slipping away on his Golbat while the girl was distracted with the Pinsir when Silver spotted the other Pinsir going straight for her.

“Shit!” Silver hissed, sliding down the trunk of the tree. He grabbed a Pokeball and tossed it, releasing his Golbat. The Pokemon hovered next to Silver while the boy grabbed a rock and tossed it at the head of the Pinsir encroaching on Sapphire.

“Hey, bug-breath!” He yelled, tossing a stick at the Pinsir. “Over here!”

The Pinsire turned towards Silver, unable to ignore the tiny human throwing things at its head. “I’ll handle this one,” he called to Sapphire  “Golbat, use your Confuse Ray!”

Golbat screeched and shot a purble beam of light towards the Pinsir, which stumbled, suddenly unsteady on its short legs. 

“You make sure the other one’s out for the count,” Silver yelled at Sapphire.”

Sapphire looked back at him, first surprised, but then a wide grin spread across her face.

“So y’ur a fighter too, eh? I ain’t gonna fall behind now!”

She jumped away from the confused Pinsir, letting Silver’s Golbat handle that one. Turning back to Donphan who was still throwing rocks at Pinsir, Sapphire could smell and see that the bug Pokemon was quite exhausted, but still fierce.

Sapphire knew one more attack would finish it off.

“Dono! Finish ‘im off! Slam-“

“SCREEEEEECH!”

Pinsir cut her off with a piercing, violent screech and charged in for another attack. However, this time it wasn’t aiming at Donphan. It angrily charged in the direction of Golbat, baring his sharp pincers to use Guillotine.

“What the-?! Dono, block Pinsir! Hurry!” Her Donphan rolled into a ball, speeding into the same direction to stop the angry Pinsir from attacking Golbat.

Sapphire also dashed to catch up with them and tried to figure out why Pinsir didn’t attack Donphan.

Up in the tree, Silver finally stopped hyperventilating enough to glance down and make sure the girl wasn’t being mauled by the wild Pinsir yet. He watched her taunting the creature and he relaxed a little; better the thing get her instead of him.

He shifted a little on the branch to make sure his weight was more evenly distributed. If the branch he was on broke and dumped him right in front of the Pinsir, he probably would have died of embarrassment before the thing had a chance to attack him.

Silver watched the girl release a Donphan and his eyes widened in surprise. Donphan were powerful Pokemon, the girl had to be a pretty good trainer if she had a Donphan on her team. Perhaps it hadn’t been a good idea for Silver to mock her…

The Rollout attack knocked the Pinsir back into the bush and Silver narrowed his eyes. It was too early for the girl to be celebrating. Pinsir might have had a weakness to Rock-type attacks, but a primary Rollout attack was still a pretty weak move and he doubted that one attack would be enough to finish the Pinsir off. His suspicions seemed to be confirmed when an awful screech came from the bush.

Silver grit his teeth, watching closely. He put his hand to the Pokeballs at his waist, ready to send out a Pokemon if it looked like the girl wouldn’t be able to handle whatever was coming next on her own.

“Uh oh!” Sapphire jumped out the way just when Pinsir burst out of the bushes once more, ramming into Donphan. “Dono! Hold ‘im off!”

She could see the clear disadvantage of the area they were in. The trees restricted Donphan’s main move Rollout to one move, making it weak despite being super-effective. Only Donphan’s sheer strength and sturdiness could hold for a while.

“Donphan! Throw ‘im an’ use y’ur Rock Tomb!” Donphan, using much of his power, threw Pinsir off itself and slammed the ground to grab chunks and chunks of earth, throwing them at the Bug Pokemon. 

“Yah! That outta teach him! Keep goin’ Dono!” Sapphire was so focused to beating Pinsir, she didn’t hear another rustle in the bushes. It was only until a second loud screech was heard, that another wild Pinsir appeared right behind her.

Sapphire quickly turned and widened her eyes, realizing why the other Pinsir had screeched loudly earlier.

It had called its mate.
